Who I Am

I’m Björn Kenneth Holmström. My background is in engineering physics and mathematical optimization, and I’m interested in governance, coordination, collective intelligence, consciousness, and complex systems—and in how they might contribute to a more flourishing world.

What I Explore

Much of my current exploration is connected to GlobalGovernanceFrameworks.org, where I investigate ways of designing more adaptive, resilient, participatory, and life-supporting systems of governance. This includes Governance as Engineering: an approach that treats institutional design as something that can be explored through models, evidence, simulation, experimentation, and iterative improvement.

Right now, I’m particularly focused on developing evidence for how Sweden can respond to the increasing complexity of our world by gradually evolving its system of government. I publish this exploration at SvenskSubsidiaritet.se.

I also explore related questions through several smaller projects, including Spiralize.org, Nondualize.org, Communize.org, and Universalize.org, as well as through ideas connected to Fjärilspartiet.

How I Approach These Questions

I’m drawn to questions that sit between disciplines. I combine systems thinking and mathematical reasoning with philosophy, science, experimentation, and lived experience. I try to remain open to being wrong, and I’m more interested in discovering what holds up under evidence, criticism, and reality than in defending a fixed worldview.

A recurring question behind these explorations is: How can we make systems more capable of supporting life without reproducing the failures and assumptions that brought us here?

A Little Background

My path has moved through software development, engineering physics, mathematics, art, contemplative practice, and periods of profound personal difficulty. These experiences have influenced how I see the world, particularly my interest in uncertainty, vulnerability, interconnectedness, and how systems respond to breakdown and change.

I don’t see this as a neat origin story, and these ideas are not intended as expressions of a single personal philosophy. This site is primarily a place to share and document questions, ideas, experiments, and projects that I find worth exploring.
